Boys Varsity Swimming · Boys Swim Makes History

At the first meet, during the first event, with two first time Smithville swimmers, the boys 100 Medley Relay, of Ray Fugett (backstroke), Brady Bell (Breastroke), Nathan Noll (butterfly) and Kolby Ruff (Freestyle) became the first Smithville relay in history to make the automatic State cut, and they made it by over two seconds, with a time of 1:43.54. The team placed second at the first meet of the year in a three way dual against Truman and Liberty. Nathan Noll advanced on his quest to make the state cut in every event, by thundering to a first place finish and state cut in the 500 Freestyle with a time of 4:59.23. Raymond Fugett, a hard working and important new Sophomore, placed first in the 200 Freestyle.

The team’s freshmen began the year with very promising swims by Curt Bollinger and Tristan Pottebaum. Team Captain, Josh Rich, lead the 400 Free relay of Rich, Bollinger, Pottebaum, and Coleman to a fourth place finish. The Team’s German exchange student, Fabian Ebel, made his stateside swimming debut with the 100 Breastroke and the 50 Free.

The team strikes again this Saturday, 11:30 AM, at the Park Hill Aquatic Center during the Battle of the Northland.
