In yesterday’s meet against Liberty and Liberty North, Kolby Ruff won the 100 Freestyle event. From an outside lane, and with no one to push him, he cruised to a first place finish and a 50.68 second time, only 8/10 of a second away from his first individual qualifying time for state. Ruff also won the 100 Backstroke.
Brady Bell had a great race in the 100 Breastroke, beating the best swimmers from Liberty, and winning the event for Smithville. Freshment, Curt Bollinger had an outstanding meet by posting an incredible 25.9 second split for 50 Freestyle in a relay. He also slashed almost three seconds off his 100 yard Breastroke time. Tristan Pottebaum swam very fast on the relays posting two best performance splits in the 50 and 100 Freestyle. Patrick Sheeran broke two minutes in the 100 Fly, a serious accomplishment for a brand new swimmer, and bested his time in the 100 Breastroke. Dylan Holman and exchange student Fabian Ebel are getting close to breaking the 30 second barrier in the 50 Free.
It was Liberty’s Senior Night. Nathan Noll, and the celebrated seniors from Liberty, surprised the crowd by electing to swim the 100 IM during the 100 Freestyle event. Noll never fails to deliver an exciting race, posting a fast 56 second 100 IM. Hardworking Justin Coleman placed 6th in the 100 Backstroke with a strong swim, and delivered for the team with a 25 second 50 free anchor split on the medley relay.
The team’s next meet will celebrate seniors Josh Rich and Fabian Ebel next Tuesday night at 4 pm at the Platte County Community Center North.
