The way we keep playing in these close, high pressure games, I might be bald (not by choice) by the end of this season. And I wouldn’t have it any other way.

Last night’s loss was the 10th consecutive game in which we’ve either led or had a one possession game in the 4th quarter. That’s every game this season and that’s a clear mark of a team that has a heart of a champion. Every single one of our kids came in ready to battle last night and they competed all night long on a night where we didn’t have our best stuff offensively. In the end, however, it’s next to impossible to beat another high school team when you commit 32 turnovers, although we sure tried. That’s what it came down to. Too many turnovers, a few too missed opportunities at the rim and couldn’t knock down our usual plethora of 3’s.

Tip of the cap to Raytown South who turned up the heat on us all night and made a couple of massive shots when they needed to in the OT’s.

Ryker Edwards led us in points last night with 24. Keltin Nitsche and Cody Simoncic both had 10 with Cody adding 11 rebounds to get another double-double. Rhett Foster and Nick Dakon had 9 points each, Rhett also grabbed double digit boards with 10. Our scorers were rounded out by Dante Cox who had 4, Brad Schram who had 2 and Derek Boyd who had 1, who stepped in w/ 6 seconds to go and hit a massive FT off the bench to tie it up and send it to OT.

We’ll need to control the ball much better at home on Friday evening as we turn our attention to Winnetonka who is sure to bring their own. Looking forward to getting back to practice today. Step by step.
